We miss you! It sure has been a long time since we were able to gather together and celebrate the success of the Center. We do hope that you are all healthy and doing well. Although the pandemic had an impact on our work, we are proud to announce that we were able to keep helping clients learn English throughout.
Although we had hoped to reopen our doors in September of 2021, we made the decision to remain remote with our instruction this year. The age and health of our many volunteers and students was a concern for us with the surge of COVID-19 variants. While most of our volunteers are teaching from home, the Center remains the hub for other volunteers who choose to teach from our location. Our enrollment this year has increased, and students are learning at rapid rates. Although we wish we could be in-person, we are very happy with the results of remote learning.
We continue to receive generous support from the New Hampshire Department of Education, the City of Manchester, as well as the Sisters of Holy Cross, and other donors just like you! We plan to open our doors again in the fall of 2022, and will also continue to offer remote instruction to those clients who need it. Our work can continue to service those most in need of English services in Manchester with your help.
We will not be able to host our Annual Taste of the World this year, but we are hoping that you will still support us with a tax-deductible donation. A raffle of all donors will be held on May 16 for a weekend away at the beautiful Bayside Resort in West Yarmouth, MA. The resort is a locally-owned and managed property with all of the amenities of the newest chain hotels plus the look, feel and charm of Cape Cod. The resort is centrally located, making it a perfect home base for excursions, trips to the beach, golf or sightseeing. Beaches, restaurants, shopping, ferries and all Cape Cod attractions are all close by. This Cape Cod getaway is valued at $350 and includes two nights with a full breakfast each day and dinner discount vouchers. We are sure that you are all eager for a little vacation away after a long winter, and we encourage you to make a donation! You could be the lucky winner! For more information about the resort, visit their website at www.baysideresort.com.
Below is an article which appeared recently in Parable, a magazine of the Diocese of Manchester. This article features the work of three of our volunteers.
I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for all of your generosity over the years. We are all hopeful that next year we will once again celebrate together.
Blessings,
Janet C. Valeri, CAGS, M.Ed.
Executive Director
