About Us

Mission

Imagine that,

through no fault of your own, you and your entire family are exiled from your country.

Imagine that,

you arrive in America where you are unfamiliar with the customs of your new surroundings and you can neither understand nor speak the English language.

Imagine, too,

that male or female, you have little to no educational background.

And imagine that,

an education may not be provided at all just because you happen to be a woman.

Just imagine ...

The Sisters of Holy Cross imagined and dreamed of providing assistance to this population which implements the spirit and the challenge of their Mission Statement:

We, the Sisters of Holy Cross, in the United States Region,
dedicate ourselves to "Education for Liberation"
among those who are underserved in our society.

Mission Statement
Sisters of Holy Cross

Flowing from the Sisters of Holy Cross Mission Statement, Holy Cross Family Learning Center is a place where people of diverse cultures from the City of Manchester, New Hampshire, come together to initiate or to continue their education. As part of this learning, they participate in helping to develop the Center as a place where family values are strengthened, community building is fostered, literacy is nourished, academic performance is raised, and diversity respected and celebrated. HCFLC seeks to respond to the needs of the growing immigrant and refugee population of the Greater Manchester area especially on Manchester's West Side.

As part of this learning, they will participate in helping to develop the Center as a place where family values are strengthened, community building is fostered, literacy is nourished, academic performance is raised, and diversity respected and celebrated.

A grant-driven program, Holy Cross Family Learning Center relies on the generosity and support of the Sisters of Holy Cross, benefactors, monetary gifts, and in-kind donations.
